Meet the team
Mike Lalande | President

Mike’s father started Lalande Insurance in 1984. Mike followed in his father’s footsteps completing the Business Insurance program at Algonquin College and obtaining his license in 1993. Mike started with the Ottawa Insurance Brokers Association as a director in 2007 and finished in 2017 as Chairman of the Board. He also spent three years on the Provincial Board Insurance Brokers Association of Ontario. In 2010 he took over Lalande Insurance as president and has since been serving clients to meet their Insurance needs. In addition to being president of Lalande Insurance, Mike also sits on the Major Gifts Committee for Christie Lake Kids and has helped raise money through annual events – as well as lead major construction projects at camp. In the summer he enjoys boating, and in the winter, skiing.
Emma James | Account Manager, Commercial Lines

Emma began her career at Lalande Insurance as an Administrative Assistant in 2016. That same year, Emma obtained her broker’s license and became an Account Executive and Account Manager for personal lines. Since 2020, her primary focus has been commercial insurance. Emma creates lasting relationships with her clients and will go above and beyond to find the best coverage for each client’s situation. In her spare time, Emma enjoys an active and social lifestyle with family and friends. In the summers she can be found at her cottage, the beach with her daughter or playing golf with her girlfriends.
Amy-Louise Shaw | Account Manager, Commercial/Personal Lines

Amy began her insurance career in the Ottawa area in 2017 and has worked with Lalande Insurance since 2019. She learned the business from the ground up, serving in all aspects of the business from administration, underwriting and marketing, and is now in a role as Account Manager in Commercial and Personal Lines. When not looking after her clients' insurance needs, you will likely find Amy reading, doing yoga, or cooking for family and friends.
David Harnedy | Account Manager, Personal Lines

David has been working in insurance since 2013. From administration, to sales, to account manager, David has grown his career in insurance through personal care for his clients. When he is not in the office, David loves watching and playing sports – particularly golf and soccer.
Ashlyn Stanley | Administrative Assistant

Ashlyn graduated from Niagara College with an Advanced Diploma in Business Administration and a major in Marketing. She has a passion for communications and finance, which led her to pursue a career in insurance. Currently she is working toward learning the ins and outs of insurance before going for her license and running digital communications at Lalande. When she is not contributing to a smooth-running office and serving clients, Ashlyn can be found travelling or spending her time outdoors regardless of the time of year – preferably in good company of friends.
